Don't even go to them for help, they basically deny everyone for assistance be it for rent, bills, etc.
I have been to the trustee office TWICE to apply for assistance with my rent the 1st I was let go of my job and needed assistance on my rent the trustee office told me bc I was let go of my job they would not help bc i was let go that was back in September in the beg of Dec I applied again because i just started a job at the end of Nov and I was not going to recieve a 1 st paycheck until middle of dec AFTER they file for eviction. ONCE again the trustee office denies me because they seen no unforeseen situation(having not enough money to pay for your rent bc u just started working is not a unforeseen situation ig) NOW they are telling me that because I just started working they dont consider that income. The trustee office is a waist of time they do not help you at all you gotta work but not too much you gotta be broke but not too broke they want u to jump through these hoops in order to get these appointments with them makes you wait 3 to 4 days just to deny you THE TRUSTEE OFFICE IS NOT HERE TO HELP THE EVERYDAY WORKING CITIZENS THEY ARE HERE FOR LOOKS AND GIGGLES. DO NOT GO TO THEM FOR ANY TYPE OF HELP U WILL BE DISAPPOINTED!
Totally agree with last poster. It's a waste of time to go here. I've been paying taxes for 18 years as a working American. I lost my job. Was denied for not having an "emergency". If going from income of $4000 take home per month, to $0 isn't an emergency I don't know what is! To make the matter worse the letter I received was time stamped for about 2 hours after I left the office. So there was no real thought put into the situation. I am a single mother with time that's very precious. When I FINALLY got in to the office for an appointment I had found a new job, after being out of work a month, losing half a day of pay was very inconvenient. I did it though because I did need help until at least after my first check. If I'd known this place was a joke that doesn't help, I would of NEVER missed 4 hours of pay. This is what upsets people who work hard. I see women that make careers out of having babies. They get groceries, section 8, public aid, child care vouchers, and anything else you can think of for years. Myself and several women I know work hard. This was my first time asking for any type of help from anywhere. I pay for full time daycare alone, so that I can work to pay all my bills alone. While trying to give my son a good life. The one time I needed a helping hand from my community, where I've been a law abiding, tax paying, good citizen for years there was no help for me. I thank God though for always watching out for His children. Things will be rough for a few weeks, but my son and I will be fine. His daycare was a bleesing, my utilities are on payment arrangements, and I get my first check from my new job tomorrow. Sorry this was s long, but I needed to vent.
